July 2026 Notes
⚡ The month began with a flurry of Kwik Trip openings in Minnesota, as NEVI-backed locations in Lake Elmo, Forest Lake, and Moose Lake were all added to the Kwik Charge network. Program-leading CPO Francis Energy also added to its NEVI tally, with sites energized as far apart as Byron, GA, Glendale, WI, and Mayfield, KY.
🥇 That early momentum carried through the rest of July to deliver NEVI’s most productive month yet, adding 19 new locations to the map. The last time the program came close to that level of activity was in November 2024, shortly before progress slowed to a crawl due to a protracted review by the Federal Highway Administration.
1️⃣ A new state graced the map of active NEVI chargers, as a Phillips 66 location in Casey, IL, became the first fast-charging site in the Land of Lincoln backed by federal funds. The host received an $854,641 grant to develop the site in partnership with Electrify America and Meyer Oil.
🏆 With Pennsylvania far in the lead in NEVI stations energized and under construction, the team at PennDOT was recognized for their diligent efforts to make the program a success. The Governor’s Award for Excellence tops a remarkable summer for Pennsylvania, in which the state’s NEVI rollout will pass 50 active locations, and around one-fifth of the national total at the time of writing.

Q2 2026 Notes
⚡ 35 new NEVI sites were added to the map from April to June, 2026, with Pennsylvania establishing a clear lead over all other states and Wisconsin surging to 2nd place with a bevy of openings at the start of the quarter from Kwik Trip.
1️⃣ Georgia finally joined the active NEVI ranks in April, with the long-awaited opening of the state’s first federally-backed site in Dublin, GA. This site also marked c-store chain Racetrac’s debut NEVI site (award: $619,576), with 4 stalls added underneath a trademark canopy. Arizona also joined the ranks a month later, with a Tesla Supercharger in Tucson (award: $487,411) added to the map.
🥇 Francis Energy moved into the top spot as the leading NEVI charging provider, with 8 new locations in Q2 pushing the Oklahoma-based CPO past Pilot Flying J.
💯💯 The nationwide program also reached 200 openings in early June, with a duo of sites at Love’s Travel Stops in Kansas and Kentucky marking the milestone.
Q1 2026 Notes
⚡ 22 new NEVI sites were added to the map from January to March, 2026, as the program continued to lean on states that were productive early, such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Texas, to keep activations flowing.
✅ Canadian hardware manufacturer Jule had a productive quarter on the NEVI front, adding 3 new sites to its relatively small US footprint (2 in Maine, 1 in Colorado). This was a positive start to the year for the company, after its first and only other NEVI site in Maybell, CO, was wiped out by a fire just a few months earlier.
