In partnership with

Good day, fellow Charging Connossieur,

That week(end) was a mad one, so I have nothing for you here other than “let’s crank straight into the news.” (If that’s what you prefer anyway, let me know by reply and I’ll bin this intro from edition 67 🤔)

Here are the latest EVI developments across the US and Canada from the past 7 days⤵️

🔍 Charging Vendor Spotlight: bp pulse

News - One short of 700 stalls. The steady rise of bp pulse often plays second fiddle to the more media-friendly headlines of Tesla, IONNA, and Walmart EV Charging, but the network is becoming a formidable presence for US EV drivers. And its latest Gigahub opens up a whole new sector: premium retail.

Numbers - 699 stalls across 84 sites in 18 states and no Canadian provinces, as yet. bp pulse reaches a port count that rivals wider coverage competitors (IONNA is present in 30 states, MB-HPC in 25 states)

Nuance - The network’s most recent activation in Ann Arbor, MI, was notable as a departure from the company’s trifecta of sectors to date: 1) corridor charging at its TravelCenters of America locations, 2) smaller format gas station sites, and 3) big Gigahubs near airports. As well as being the company’s first site in Michigan, adding charging to Briarwood Mall is also bp pulse’s first pure retail location. Are we finally witnessing the fruition of a partnership with Simon Properties? If so, 75 more sites and almost 1,000 ports are a go for malls and premium outlets across the US.

Next Up - bp pulse has a more aggressive NACS-J3400 strategy than most of its peers. At some recent TA activations, such as Redding, CA, the incoming connector type made up two-thirds of the handles, rather than the more common 50/50 or 60/40 split in favor of CCS1. Look to new sites outside of California for a hint as to where the network sees the future of EV adoption spiking or where it can attract business from Tesla owners, as NACS-J3400 typically attracts either new EV owners or Tesla drivers seeking an experience outside of Superchargers.

🔌 AC/DC: This Week in L2 Charging

News - A steady week for destination charging, with ChargePoint standing out as usual and other players padding the numbers with some interesting installations across a wide range of sites. And if your AC charging solution is currently defunct (or just underwhelming), check out Everged’s zero-cost swap program, aimed at rehabilitating tired L2 charging sites with their reliable hardware + management software.

Numbers - 645 L2 charging ports added to the Alternative Fuels Data Center this week, spread across 27 states and 3 Canadian provinces.

Notable New L2 + AFDC Additions:

🟠 ChargePoint added 319 ports across the United States and Canada, comprising 49% of the AC charging deployments this week. A massive 114 ports are energized at the Amazon facility in Bellevue, WA, emphasizing the limitations of AFDC listing for L2 charging. Based on the AFDC entry, these are restricted chargers for Amazon employees, which is a workplace perk but not the 24/7 public charging option the listing suggests.

🔷 FLO added 30 AC ports across 7 locations. 11 chargers at Pearl St in Tacoma, WA, are spread across two lots and showcase the Canadian company’s growing reputation for convenient destination charging hardware.

◾ Blink Charging added 30 new ports at 4 charging locations in as many states. 18 ports at the Element Apartments in Greeley, CO, mark an impressive addition for a new build property. This is the kind of destination charging base we need to see at every ground-up MFD build to give residents the option to drive electric.

🗽 ChargeSmart EV added more double-digit L2 port counts at hotels in New York state. 14 stalls at the Holiday Inn - Rochester Marketplace and 10 at the Candlewood Suites - Buffalo Amherst continue the company’s dominance of destination charging at upstate NY accommodation sites.

⭕ Red E added 2 x L2 ports at a Chevy dealership in Davison, MI, and another 4 at a retirement center in Needham, MA. The latter emphasizes an interesting use case, with residents probably not intended the primary user. Employees and visiting families, however, could benefit greatly from the installation if they drive a BEV or PHEV.

🛣️ Fast Forward: This Week in DCFC

News - A steady week for fast-charging additions, with four Canadian provinces represented thanks to FLO, and a data drop for DirtRoad EV putting several Minnesota locations on this week’s map. Some notable providers missing on the US side, with nothing from IONNA, bp pulse, or the dedicated EVgo network this week (although Pilot-Flying J still managed an addition 📶).

Numbers - 258 DC charging ports at 66 charging locations added to the Alternative Fuels Data Center this week, spread across 19 states and four provinces.

Check out the DCFCtracker.com site to see a map of the latest AFDC additions, which can also be filtered down to the past week or month. The brown dots in Minnesota are locations recently added or transitioned to DirtRoad EV.

US AFDC additions mapped by DCFCtracker.com - 4/4 to 4/11/26

Notable New Locations + AFDC Additions:

🟠 ChargePoint had a strong showing on the US side, with uncharacteristically large sites added in Redding (8 ports) and Visalia, CA (10 ports). The network’s average stall count per site typically sits in the low single digits, making any week with double-digit port/stall counts a positive development. The Redding location comes courtesy of Zero 60 Charging, which continues to build out a solid foundation in the Golden State.

📍 Pilot-Flying J fell off a lot compared to last week’s impressive drop of 7 new locations, but kept its weekly streak alive with 4 stalls at Pilot Travel Center 76 in Tuscaloosa, AL.

🍁 North of the border, FLO Charging posted four new sites in as many provinces, including three FLO Ultra units energized in partnership with Canadian Tire in Lévis, QC.

🟢Electrify America added 20 new ports at 3 sites, two in California and one in Marlton, NJ (6 stalls). The site in Foster City, CA (10 stalls), at a retail center between San Francisco and San Jose, is the largest of the three locations.

⚡ Francis Energy spiced up the race for the top NEVI network, with two new sites energized in Kentucky (Morehead + Campton), and a third in Michigan (Bear Lake). All are funded, to some degree, by the federal program and arrive at important locations in their respective states. Michigan’s fully built out certification, Georgia’s first site live in Dublin, and the quiet creep towards 200 active locations all show the NEVI program continues to build out important sites in key regions.

🛒 Walmart didn’t get them in the database yet, but did add two new sites in existing states that now show up in the retailer’s charging app. Supercenter 2767 in Mesa, AZ, adds 4 x ABB A400 dispensers serving 8 stalls, while Neighborhood Market 5837 deploys Alpitronic hardware and becomes the brand’s second site open in Alabama.

⭕ Red E energized four new sites in three states, including two at c-stores in Illinois and another ALDI location in upstate New York, this one deploying AUTEL Maxicharger hardware at the store in Oswego, NY.

🔴 Tesla Charging added 84 new stalls at 8 Superchargers across 5 states, but no provinces this week. The largest are all in California, with 16 stalls each, including a full 500kW V4 location in Campbell, CA. Also confirmed was the first publicly available Megacharger at TravelCenters of America, pictured below.

📝 In the Pipeline - New Sites Planned, Permitted, or Under Construction

📝 Starting with permitting news, we have new Superchargers found by MarcoRP1 for Bradenton, FL, and Collinsville, IL, as well as an unlisted Megacharger for Charlotte, NC.

⚪ Another tasty Supercharger for Business (SfB) site is coming to the Jinya Ramen Bar in Oklahoma City, OK, emphasizing the breadth of interest from smaller providers, independent businesses, and regional players in the SfB program.

📶 More 500kW/full V4 Superchargers in Tesla’s pipeline, with sites now permitted for Danbury, CT, and under construction in Fort Worth, TX. 7 × 500kW locations are now open across the United States, though no full V4 sites yet identified for Canada.

On the non-Tesla side, Rivian permits were spotted for a new RAN site in Ritzville, WA, and construction is underway at the IONNA Rechargery in Riverside, CA. Construction is also accelerating at a variety of Pilot-Flying J travel centers, including this one with full canopy and pull-through spaces in Lake Point, UT.

🚧 Construction continues at Walmart stores across the US, ready to bring the latest DCFC hardware to a mix of metro stores and more remote locations. A new resource created by Spencer, based on Arkansas eTraveler data tables, helps track every location the team know about: wattmart.community. At the time of writing, it shows construction underway at 84 stores and permits filed for almost 200 more.

🚛 Fleet Focus: EV Realty Opens San Bernardino HDEV Hub

News - EV Realty cut the ribbon at its flagship fleet charging facility in San Bernardino, CA. At peak periods of operation, the site has the capacity to fast-charge more than 200 fleet vehicles per day.

Numbers - 9MW+ of fleet charging power, spread across 76 stalls, two of which are served by the Kempower Megawatt Charger System we featured in edition 64. Take a look at the site, system, and superb reach of the inimitable dispensers in the video below.

Nuance - As fleet electrification returns to the spotlight amid skyrocketing diesel fuel prices, EV Realty’s new facility offers a glimpse of what future freight moves could look like. National freight operator J.B. Hunt is among the facility’s first customers, along with Gate City Beverage and Nevoya, a zero-emissions trucking company.

Next Up - EV Realty has a second San Bernardino location in the works, located at 360 Rialto Avenue. Additional California sites in Stockton and Torrance will provide the foundation for the company to build out its West Coast electric freight charging corridors.
