Good day, fellow Electric Traveler 🔋🧭
Like many of you, we’re on the road this week and time is limited. We’ll keep this shorter than usual but just as sweet, with all of the latest charger openings, headline news, and upcoming EV infrastructure you need to know about. Happy Birthday USA and hello, Canada, where we’ll be charging up as you read this. If you’re on the road as well, here’s wishing you safe travels and seamless charging.
These are the US + Canadian EVI developments for the past 7 days ⤵️
📊 Sunday Stat: Outside of Tesla Superchargers, NACS-equipped stalls make up only 10.6% of public DC fast-charging options in the US. Electrify America’s (EA) contribution to this non-Tesla NACS stall count is even smaller, with the company’s current 36 stalls representing less than 1% of the NACS ports available outside the Supercharger network. EA announced plans this week to expand its limited NACS pilot by retrofitting existing sites with NACS connectors (inc. some NACS-only locations) over the summer.

🔍 Charging Vendor Spotlight: Pilot-Flying J
News - Pilot-Flying J flew past another milestone as we entered the second half of the year, opening an astonishing 10 locations in one week to push the travel center network beyond 300 fast-charging sites.
Numbers - 1,323 stalls across 309 sites in 40 states. Pilot’s website lists 878 locations across 43 states in its fueling stop network, so more than one-third of those facilities now offer EV charging. The project’s original stated target is 500 locations with DCFC.

One of Pilot-Flying J’s larger installs, with 8 stalls in Elkton, MD
Nuance - As noted in the opening story, the introduction of NACS-J3400 connectors is becoming a higher priority across the US charging sector. Notably, in a record week of openings for P-FJ, none of the locations include a NACS handle. In fact, Pilot has just one site with a NACS-J3400 option (2 ports), and operates more CHAdeMO handles (5 ports) than NACS (primarily due to funding requirements in North Carolina).
Next Up - Pilot’s steady progress continues, with the original target of 500 fast-charging locations inching ever closer. At the current clip, assuming this record week is an anomaly, P-FJ would complete the project by early 2028.

🔌 AC/DC: This Week in L2 Charging
News - A lighter week for AC additions, with fewer L2 ports added than we logged in edition 77 and fewer states/provinces involved in this week’s AFDC additions.
Numbers - 357 L2 charging ports added to the Alternative Fuels Data Center this week, covering 25 states and 4 Canadian provinces.

Notable New L2 + AFDC Additions:
🟠 ChargePoint added 217 ports across the United States and Canada (61% of the week’s total), including 13 ports at a Top Golf location in Parsippany, NJ. In Phoenix, AZ, visitors to the Phoenix Zoo can enjoy an extra 4 ports at something called the Salt River Project, in addition to the existing ChargePoint installation in the main lot.
🔷 FLO had a solid week on the destination charging side, adding 23 ports across 8 locations, all but one of which are in Canada. 3 ports at the Pictou Visitor Information Center brings Nova Scotia into our weekly roundup of AC charging for the first time in a while. Stateside, FLO adds 2 AC ports to the Green Lake Library in Seattle, WA.

🔶 Rivian makes a rare but welcome appearance in our L2 charging section, with a new Waypoints location energized in Michigan’s Petoskey State Park.
◾ Blink Charging energized 29 ports across 9 locations in 7 states. The largest are 6-stall sites at a residential property in Marietta, GA, and City Hall in Sanger, CA, which appears to be a site takeover from a non-functional EV Connect location.
⭕ Red E added 12 new L2 ports at 3 locations in 2 states. 6 ports at the Hand in Health Massage Therapy office in North Syracuse, NY, is the largest of the three.
🛣️ Fast Forward: This Week in DCFC
News - Pilot-Flying J and Kwik Trip steal the show ahead of July 4th, with our spotlight vendor adding almost as many sites as it opened in all of June and Wisconsin’s favorite c-store brand opening 5 sites that bolster NEVI’s monthly numbers right out of the gate. Tesla had a regular week but a record-setting quarter, overall, with 60M sessions recorded globally and 2 TWh of energy delivered representing record utilization.
Numbers - 277 DC charging ports at 65 charging locations were added to the AFDC, covering 25 states and 1 Canadian province. In terms of Tesla’s Q2 numbers, North America added 1,372 stalls across 120 Superchargers, as well as expanding 5 sites with 34 new stalls, according to the ever-helpful supercharge.info website.

Check out the DCFCtracker.com site to see a map of the latest AFDC additions in the United States, which can also be filtered down to the past week, month, or quarter.

Notable New Locations + AFDC Additions:
🍁 Just the one addition north of the border this week, possibly due to Canada Day falling right in the middle of the week. Fittingly, FLO Charging energized a new location in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, ON, near the City Hall site already served by FLO’s L2 units.
⚡ Kwik Trip energized 5 new NEVI sites, 3 in its home state of Wisconsin and 2 across the border in Minnesota. We’ll pick one from each state to focus on, starting with Moose Lake, MN. This location adds to a stretch of I-35 with limited DCFC options, let alone 4 stalls capable of up to 400kW, which is what Kwik Charge brings with its deployment of SK Signet P400K hardware. The other notable location is Wausau, WI, which lands neatly in the middle of several existing NEVI sites to the north/south and upcoming sites to the east/west. It’s a useful bridge site that will slot in nicely for travelers on US-51 this summer.
🔴 After sharing typically impressive Q2 numbers, Tesla Charging added 108 stalls at 9 of its own locations this week, covering 8 states but no provinces. No full V4 locations this week but the Supercharger in Albert Lea, MN, is a NEVI-funded location with 16 Magic Dock CCS1 handles available, and a 12-stall Supercharger in Addison, IL, offers the same.
⚪ On the Supercharger for Business side, 4 new locations were energized and one site upgraded, covering as many states and site owners. Familiar names include Francis Energy, which upgraded a Casey’s in Henryetta, OK, to SfB, and Wawa, which added a new Supercharger site of its own in Gainesville, VA. Congratulations also go out to the vivacious team at EV Auto, who have added charging to their latest pre-owned EV dealership location in Brentwood, TN.
🟦 EVgo posted some sizable locations this week, with 40 stalls across 5 locations in 2 states. 10 stalls at a Winco Foods grocery store in Arlington, TX, is the largest of the batch, while a Home Depot in Woodland Hills, CA, is one of three 8-stall sites added in the Golden State this week.
🔶 Rivian energized two locations before closing out the second quarter, with new RAN options for EV drivers in Price, UT, and Jacumba, CA. Continuing the trend of recent Rivian charging sites, only NACS-J3400 are deployed at these new locations.

⭕ Red E energized 2 New England locations, for an addition of 14 ports in total this week. 8 ports at the “Hartford NEVI Charging Center” in Vermont catch the eye, in part for the federal funding and also due to the convenient travel location at White River Junction, which is where I-89 and I-91 intersect on the border of VT and NH. Although the listing currently shows 8 x CHAdeMO ports, it seems likely that CCS1 is actually present at this site, given NEVI requirements and the handle options at other Red E sites in Vermont.
📍 In keeping with its shifts into a NACS-J3400 transition phase this summer, Electrify America energized 2 more CCS1-only locations in the PA/NJ area and 1 with both ports. In a nod to how the network has integrated NACS so far, Alpitronic Hyperchargers with the Multiport solution bring both connector types to a Wawa in Upper Darby, PA. The other 2 locations use EA’s more familiar BTC Power hardware with a single cable per dispenser. All of these in Bristol, PA, and Union, NJ, are CCS1 for the moment, but the Bristol site is part of EA’s plan to integrate NACS handles on those BTC units this summer.
🛒 Walmart EV Charging didn’t add anything to AFDC listings this week but did light up an impressive 6 new locations across as many states. Debut sites in North Carolina (Greensboro) and Ohio (Cincinnati) steal the focus, though additions in Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah also contributed to WEVC reaching 75 locations this week.
🪙 NEVI was also active beyond Kwik Trip sites this week, with Francis Energy opening a new federally funded site north of Milwaukee, WI, and the upgraded Tesla Supercharger in Albert Lea, MN, which received $546,512 in round 1 of Minnesota’s awards.

🛒 The latest update on the Walmart EV Charging (WEVC) coming soon pipeline, monitored in near real time by Arkansas eTraveler/Wattmart: 326 known locations across 34 states, with 187 in the permitting stage and 139 under construction. Of the latter, Supercenter 1557 in Fishers could soon become Indiana’s first WEVC site activated, as ABB A400s are already in the ground.
⚪ Other activity on the Tesla Supercharger for Business side shows a new SfB location coming to Weatherford, TX, according to supercharge.info, while Francis Energy has added Midwest City, OK, to its construction list for SfB upgrades.
🚧 Construction is also underway at several 500kW V4 Supercharger sites, with full V4 coming soon to Little River and Vacaville in California, and a welcome high power option for the DelMarVa, coming to Parksley, VA.
