Good day, fellow Destination Charger 🔌🏙️

It’s not often that AC charging steals the spotlight from DCFC, so revel in the headlines out of New York City this week, and its grand plans for curbside chargers. Not quite the “chargers in every lot” feeling we experienced over the summer in Quebec, but heading very much in the right direction for a US city.

Meanwhile, fast charging held its own, with activations from most major operators, Pennsylvania confirming 50+ active NEVI locations, Kwik Charge embracing densification, and Mercedes-Benz HPC hitting 100 live sites. And Tesla blew straight through another milestone, with 40,000+ Supercharger stalls now online across the United States.

With all of that and more to cram in, here’s how EV infrastructure developments went this week across the US and Canada ⤵️

News - Brooklyn-based it’s electric has been selected as the sole provider of New York City’s curbside charging expansion under the PlugNYC program.

Numbers - 700 posts from it’s electric are planned across the five boroughs, including replacement of 88 existing chargers. This represents the largest municipal deployment plan for a curbside charging buildout in the United States, though Canada eclipses this, with an estimated 3,000+ AC ports in Montreal, QC.

Nuance - The story carries a subplot, as the Canadian charging provider that helped lay the foundation for this expansion is replaced by a homegrown alternative. The FLO AC charging poles dotted around NYC logged utilization above 70% in several cases, providing the demand data to justify expansion. The displaced units are also the bedrock of Montreal’s citywide curbside charging program, which provides a glimpse of the kind of widespread L2 access New Yorkers will eventually enjoy (albeit with added V2G benefits).

Next Up - The first phase of the agreement sees NYC replacing the existing curbside units with it’s electric models by 2027. The second phase installs 600 further posts across the city, including every borough, by 2030. Public comments and suggestions for locations remain open until Sept. 30th, 2026.

📊 Sunday Stat: — In a NACS-focused week of news, it comes as no surprise that Tesla is responsible for 98.7% of US fast-charging sites that offer only a NACS-J3400 handle (or simply the Tesla connector, at older V2 Superchargers).

There are now more than 3,000 NACS-only locations across the United States, but strip out Superchargers and fewer than 50 DCFC locations from 5 operators offer only a NACS-J3400 connector as the only option. Rivian started the shift to NACS-only earlier this year and now has 23 locations without a CCS1 handle (14% of the Rivian Adventure Network sites).

Blink, ChargePoint, Electrify America, and now IONNA are also heading in that direction, but as we near the end of Q3 2026, they still have just single-digit site counts with no CCS1 option.

News - Kwik Trip’s in-house charging operation, Kwik Charge, got a notable boost this week, with 4 new non-NEVI locations added to the pipeline.

Numbers - 23 locations open in 2 states (5 in Minnesota and 18 in Wisconsin). The coming soon pipeline expands that footprint by an impressive 44 sites and eventually brings the network into Iowa, with 9 planned locations.

Nuance - To date, all but one of Kwik Trip’s Kwik Charge deployments have been backed by NEVI funding. One of the earliest sites in West Salem, WI, was non-NEVI, but the 22 that followed all received awards. Much of the pipeline also follows NEVI awards, including the planned locations in Iowa, but the Madison locations buck that trend, signaling a shift for the network.

Next Up - This feels like a step-change for Kwik Trip. After spending a couple of years gauging interest and making good use of federal funding to blanket its home state with convenient fast-charging options, the desire to move faster and make Kwik Trip locations synonymous with EV charging appears to be growing. 4 dedicated locations for the EV-friendly city of Madison bring densification to the network, and Kwik Trip will do it all on the company’s dime.

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

News - ChargePoint dominated destination charging as usual this week, powered by two major deployments: a large NJ DOT facility installation and an Intuit campus in San Diego. Together, these account for over a third of all L2 additions this week. EV Gateway and a trio of Canadian operators also posted solid weeks, with ChargeLab, Electric Circuit, and FLO all delivering double-digit locations.

Numbers: 615 L2 charging ports were added to the Alternative Fuels Data Center this week, covering 20 states and 7 Canadian provinces/territories.

Notable New L2 + AFDC Additions:

🟠 ChargePoint added 348 ports across 62 locations, including a 64-port NJ DOT facility in Ewing Township, NJ, and a 58-port Intuit campus workplace deployment in San Diego, CA.

⚡ EV Gateway added an impressive 100 ports across 10 locations, all matching 10-port sites clustered around set municipalities in New Jersey, like these sites in Lakewood, Toms River, and Jackson Township.

🗽 ViaLynk added 16 ports at 2 sites, led by a 10-port location at the Old Post Office parking garage in Chicago, IL.

🍁 ChargeLab topped Canadian activity, with 29 ports at 12 locations, most of which are depot facilities and HQ installs at Nova Scotia Power sites across the Maritimes.

🔵 That narrowly edged out FLO’s L2 work this week, which added 27 ports at 6 sites across Ontario, Québec, and a less common site in Newfoundland and Labrador, expanding the network’s presence in St. John’s. 8 stalls listed in Drummondville, QC, is FLO’s largest this week,

🔷 Circuit électrique added 14 ports at 3 Québec sites, led by 8 stalls at an IGA grocery store in Montréal.

🏁 Rounding out this week's L2 activity: Flipturn added a single 20-port site at an ABM electrification center in Cumming, GA; NOODOE added 4 ports at a Polestar dealership in San Diego, CA; OpConnect added 2 ports in Portland, OR; and EVSTART added a single port in Toronto, ON.

News - Tesla's DCFC data was back in the AFDC mix again this week, boosting numbers and revealing a cluster of third-party SfB sites alongside the regular batch of Superchargers. IONNA pushed to almost 50% on its Circle K upgrade program (and introduced the network’s first NACS-only locations while doing so), as ViaLynk continued its uptick in activity and most of the major players got new locations on the board.

Numbers - 276 DC charging ports at 51 charging locations were added to the AFDC, covering 21 states and 2 Canadian provinces.

Notable New Locations + AFDC Additions:

💯 Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging (MB-HPC) added a 10-stall site in Southern Pines, NC, which, as we highlighted in last week’s edition, takes the network to its 100-site milestone.

🟠 IONNA added 20 ports at 5 Rechargery @ Circle K retrofits, spread across California, South Carolina, and Texas, all with 4 stalls apiece. The appearance of NACS-only handles at 2 of the California locations raised eyebrows earlier this week, with opinions ranging from “seems very premature” to “NACS is the present and future of light-duty charging in the US”. What’s your take?

🔴 Tesla Charging added 76 ports at 7 of its own locations across 6 states. The largest is a 16-stall site at Willowchase Shopping Center in Houston, TX, with matching 12-stall additions at Wawa in Davie, FL, and a Wegmans grocery store in Germantown, MD.

⚪ On the Supercharger for Business side, 24 ports landed across 5 partner sites, led by an 8-stall Victron Energy location at Star Travel Center in Bowie, TX. Electric Son and The EVThing each added their own 4-stall locations in Texas, with Francis Energy upgrades that we cover in the next section making up the remainder.

🟢 Electrify America energized 38 ports at 3 sites, headlined by a 24-stall location at Sand Lake Corners South in Orlando, FL. Although it has the port count to justify a hub, it looks like a regular retail plaza deployment in every other sense, with no driver-specific amenities like a lounge or canopy.

⚡ Walmart EV Charging energized 2 new locations, with 8-stall Alpitronic sites on both sides of the country. Raleigh, NC, and Denton, TX, added 16 ports this week and brought the total count to 956 stalls across the network.

🔵 EVgo added 26 ports at 3 locations, led by a 10-stall site at a retail plaza north of Philadelphia, PA. 8-stall sites in El Cajon, CA, and Houston, TX, add the rest and put EVgo’s owned-and-operated network within a few sites of 4,000 stalls.

🔵 bp pulse got back in action with the addition of a 6-stall site at an ARCO gas station in Yuba City, CA.

🔷 Circuit électrique added 9 ports at 2 Québec sites, including a location in Saint-Sauveur at the A.M. Déjeuner Dîner.

🗽 ViaLynk added 20 ports at 5 sites, covering Washington, Illinois, and Colorado. Expansion in Washington State continues, led by a 6-stall site at PNWU's conference center in Yakima.

✨ Pilot-Flying J added a single 4-stall site this week, at the travel center in Staunton, VA, under the EVgo eXtend banner.

🏁 Rounding out the week: ChargePoint added 21 ports across 8 locations, including a Recharge Eco site in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, QC, as Blink Charging added 4 ports at 2 sites, one a Hyundai dealer in Missouri, the other an apartment complex in Katy, TX.

⭕ IONNA upgraded another 5 sites to Rechargery @ Circle K locations, including 2 NACS-only locations with Lancaster and Perris in California. At the current pace, the network should complete the full upgrade program before the end of the year.

🔧 Francis Energy upgraded two 4-stall Crest Foods grocery store sites in Oklahoma (Midwest City and Moore), with the now familiar sight of Francis Superchargers replacing aging hardware under the SfB program.

⚡ EVgo upgraded an existing location in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, adding 3 new dispensers for a total of six additional stalls, bringing the total to 14. This includes NACS-J3400 handles, of which there are now 4 available at this site.

✅ Four locations remain on Electrify America’s NACS pilot program list, with 2 sites in Pennsylvania and 2 in New Jersey expected to become hybrid NACS/CCS1 locations later this month. On the upgrade side, the following EA locations are currently offline while legacy hardware is replaced with the latest generation BTC Power dispensers: Lake Zurich, IL | Hauppauge, NY | Lovelock, NV | Willow Grove, PA.

📝 In Tesla permitting, MarcoRP shared new Supercharger filings for Cambria, CA, Napa, CA, and Baltimore, MD. New Megachargers are also planned for the Pilot Travel Center in Castaic, CA, and a Flying J equivalent in Brookshire, TX.

⚪ Activity on the Tesla Supercharger for Business side shows a new third-party site planned for Las Vegas, NV, about one mile north of downtown.

🛒 Walmart EV Charging has 343 sites in the pipeline across the US, with 115 sites currently under construction and at least 228 in the earlier development stages, based on Wattmart numbers. The first WEVC location in New Mexico appears to be a two-way race between Supercenters 824 and 2451 in Albuquerque, both of which are reported as coming soon on Walmart’s official site listings.

🔶 Rivian has a new Adventure Network location under construction in Jackson, WY.

🚧 Construction is underway at new Supercharger sites in the following locations, according to supercharge.info: Hays, KS, Tomball, TX, and Vancouver, WA (500kW). Tesla Charging also reported the first pre-assembled Megacharger on-site in Saginaw, TX.

🪙 On the NEVI side, construction is at an advanced stage in Benzonia, MI, with four AUTEL dispensers in the ground at a WESCO-branded site. Similarly, the same hardware is powered up and awaiting commissioning at a Red E site in Versailles, KY. Pennsylvania also continues to push on from 50 NEVI sites energized, with new locations underway in Bloomsburg and the Cumberland Valley Service Plaza in Carlisle, PA.

News: ZEV trucking enabler Forum Mobility confirmed it will break ground on key new heavy-duty charging depots covering Northern and Southern CA.

Numbers: 4 new heavy-duty electric vehicle (HDEV) charging depots across California, deploying an additional 30 MW of charging capacity up and down the state.

Nuance: In these pages, Tesla Megachargers provide the weekly drumbeat of impending HDEV adoption. New sites are now identified in permitting every week, and there’s an overlap with Forum Mobility’s latest locations. As reported by the ever-excellent team at EVwire, the planned locations will feature Megachargers, and the existing Forum depot, FM Harbor (pictured above), will bring 2 Megacharger posts to the facility, which opened in 2024.

Next Up: Once all 5 facilities are in operation, Forum Mobility’s HDEV capacity will be 40MW, serving 25 known clients and Forum’s anticipated fleet of more than 300 Tesla Semis. How high will diesel prices rise by the time these sites are open? That’s a question worth pondering for freight operators and fleet managers across the continent.
